Overview

This degree provides the first of a two-tier structure. Students wishing to qualify for professional recognition as architects must complete this degree followed by the Bachelor of Architecture.

UTS Architecture students have the benefit of learning from award-winning architectural practitioners and internationally recognised academic scholars who are committed to providing excellence in education that will give a head start in a competitive environment.

UTS Architecture courses provide the skills and knowledge necessary to practice in the architectural profession. Students are taught to use and understand a wide range of design methods and tools, including the latest 3D modelling software.

Students receive a balance of academic and practical content. Graduates are highly sought-after by the profession. Even while studying full time, flexible timetabling and practice-based learning subjects allow students to gain experience in the industry. The course is recognised both nationally and internationally.

Course aims

This degree provides a liberal introduction to the study of architecture as a discipline. It can stand alone, and equips students well to join other design fields or related disciplines, or to go on to further academic research and study. It also has an important role in preparing students for the Bachelor of Architecture degree.

Career options

Career options include positions in architecture, design, education, journalism, landscape architecture, research and urban design.

Articulation

Students who have successfully completed this course may proceed to the Bachelor of Architecture (C08001) as continuing students, provided they enrol in the next academic year after award of the degree, or seek leave of absence for no longer than one academic year after the award.

Additional admission requirements

Admission to this degree is based on formal academic qualifications. However, the Faculty may consider applications based on the results of a STAT test if students lack academic qualifications but have extensive professional experience. The STAT test is conducted through UAC.
