This course is available for new admissions every second year. It is not available for admission in 2007.
This course is not offered to international students.
The course enables students to develop specialised nursing skills and knowledge to effectively care for patients throughout their cancer journey in various health care settings.
Students develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to practise safely and competently in cancer nursing practice. The course helps students to critically evaluate their practice and research evidence in pursuit of clinical excellence in this highly rewarding branch of nursing.
This course articulates with the Graduate Diploma in Nursing (C07044), and the Master of Nursing (C04228).
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in nursing or an equivalent tertiary qualification. Registered nurses who do not have an undergraduate diploma or degree but who have recent relevant work experience may also be considered eligible. Such applicants must present evidence of a capacity to undertake tertiary study.
Applicants are also expected to have at least one year of full-time professional employment as a registered nurse and are normally expected to have concurrent employment in cancer or palliative care nursing.
The Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing is offered on a one-year, part-time basis.
Students must complete a total of 24 credit points, comprising four specified Nursing subjects.
