Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Project Management provides advanced professional studies in information technology project management. The course aims to contribute to the advancement and integration of knowledge, professional skills and technology in IT project management.

This course provides IT professionals with a practical understanding of IT project management to enhance their career prospects.

The course aims to:

  • explain the business context and technical developments shaping contemporary IT project management
  • develop knowledge and skills in IT project management processes
  • develop conceptual and analytical approaches to IT project management, and
  • develop theoretical and practical competencies in technical and people management.

Articulation

The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Project Management is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Diploma in Managing Information Technology (C07114) and Master of Information Technology Management (C04225). It is also part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Diploma in Commercial Software Engineering Management (C07110) and Master of Commercial Software Engineering Management (C04221).

The subjects in the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Project Management can also be taken as part of the Master of Business in Information Technology Management (C04161).

Additional admission requirements

Applicants require a minimum qualification equivalent to a Bachelor's degree with a major in computing/information technology (or related discipline) from a recognised Australian university.

Applicants with insufficient formal qualifications may be admitted if they can demonstrate evidence of general and professional qualifications, such as other post-secondary school qualifications that can establish the applicant's aptitude, knowledge and practical experience, which will satisfy the Faculty Board in Information Technology that the applicant possesses the educational preparation and capacity to pursue postgraduate studies.

Course duration and attendance

This course is offered on a one-year, part-time basis.
