Overview

New technology, particularly in the area of information, new management approaches and the pressure of global competition have placed a premium on those who have a broad understanding of how to plan and manage complex business processes. The Master of Business in Value Chain Management is designed for those who wish to gain significant insight and skills in these areas.

The course is specifically designed to cater for the needs of those employed in the service industries as well as in areas traditionally associated with business operations management.

Course aims

The Master of Business in Value Chain Management provides professionals with advanced value chain management skills and the knowledge to enhance their understanding of the nature and contribution of supply chain and operational management functions in the organisational context.

Career options

Career options include positions in operations management, service operations management and supply chain management.

Articulation

This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in Value Chain Management (C11199), the Graduate Diploma in Value Chain Management (C07112) and the Master of Business in Value Chain Management.

Additional admission requirements

Applicants require one of the following:

  • a cognate degree from a UTS-recognised university or other tertiary education institution
  • a degree from a UTS-recognised university or other tertiary education institution and a minimum of two years' relevant work experience
  • a relevant Graduate Diploma from UTS or a UTS-recognised tertiary education institution, or
  • a relevant Graduate Certificate from UTS or a UTS-recognised tertiary education institution with at least a Credit average.

Additional recognition of prior learning

Students may be granted a maximum of eight subjects exemptions, of which four core subjects may be approved from prior undergraduate study.

Course duration and attendance

The Master of Business in Value Chain Management may be completed in three years of part-time study, or one-and-a-half years of full-time study.

The Master of Business in Value Chain Management totals 72 credit points and consists of a combination of core and elective subjects.
