Undergraduate
Subject coordinator: Alison Gwilt

This subject allows students to explore areas that are not a regular part of the curriculum and enhances their professional knowledge and skills. A proposal must be submitted prior to commencement of this subject. Design competitions and community projects are examples of possible project areas. While the subject is self-directed, learning is supported by small group seminars.

Students need to demonstrate a clear and decisive design methodology throughout the period of the special project. This will be assessed by lecturer, based on the clarity of the written proposal, depth and quality of research, design exploration, and design processes.

The study undertaken by the student will be focused on areas of inquiry related to the fashion and textile design. The approved proposal will either advance an area of study previously undertaken or explore an alternative area of interest that supports the fashion discipline.
