Overview

The Master of Arts in Training and Human Resource Development is offered to students who are training professionals or human resource development (HRD) professionals. This course is for people who wish to gain recognised qualifications in training and human resource development and to further develop their knowledge and competence in the theory and practice of HRD.

Course aims

The course aims to provide participants with an increased knowledge to make informed judgments on adult education and human resource development issues.

Career options

Career options include educational and training leadership roles in various capacities, such as policy making, research, consulting, planning, curriculum development and management in teaching and learning organisations.

Articulation

Students who enrol in the subjects 013348 Research Perspectives and 013349 Research Design are eligible to apply for the Master of Education (Honours) (C03038) or doctoral programs in the Faculty.

Additional admission requirements

Undergraduate qualifications are required, together with current workplace experience.

A minimum cohort of 30 students is required for commencement.

Course duration and attendance

The course is structured for part-time study over a two-year period, commencing in Summer session.

It is offered by a combination of block and distance delivery mode, which includes a two-day seminar for each core subject, computer-mediated learning enabling one-to-one communication between students and teachers, a distance learning study package for each subject, and study groups.

Course structure

This course totals 48 credit points of study and consists of six core subjects and two elective subjects. Some electives may include subjects from the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) Professional Diploma programs for students studying in Hong Kong.
