Overview
The Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management introduces participants to knowledge and experiences in the areas of human resource management (HRM) and industrial relations.
The course equips graduates with the essential skills and knowledge to become effective, diligent and successful human resource practitioners.
Course aims
The Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management is a good entry point for students wanting to strengthen their understanding of HRM. It provides participants with the opportunity to study at a professional level and to improve their critical understanding. In most circumstances, participants can choose to progress to the graduate diploma or master’s course in HRM on successful completion of the graduate certificate.
Career options
Career options include management-level positions in industry or government in HRM.

Admission requirements
Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
All applicants who do not meet the academic requirement may still be considered on the basis of:
- a minimum of at least four years' full time, or equivalent, relevant work experience.
The relevant work experience must be demonstrated through a C.V. and a Statement of Service confirming the dates of employment, and the position held within the organisation.
The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.
Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.
Pathway course
Students who do not meet the requirements to gain entry into the Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management may be eligible for entry into the Graduate Certificate in Business Immersion and Career Transition (C11300). Satisfactory completion of the UTS Graduate Certificate allows students to articulate into the Master of Human Resource Management (C04286 or C04260).
Recognition of prior learning
There is no recognition of prior learning available for this course.
Course duration and attendance
The course duration is one year of part-time study.
Students who wish to undertake a full-time study load should apply for the Graduate Certificate in Business Immersion and Career Transition (C11300).
Course structure
All students must complete a total of 24 credit points made up of four core subjects.
