Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Executive Business Administration provides foundation skills used in the general management of a business unit or enterprise for non-graduates who have at least eight years of relevant business experience.

Course aims

General management skills are developed to provide a knowledge base in the areas of leadership, strategic thinking, business planning, decision-making tools, organisational and group dynamics, effective communication and accounting.

Course intended learning outcomes

1.1 Critically analyse and apply relevant information and concepts for business decisions taking into account a variety of contexts
2.1 Demonstrate critical thinking in order to analyse complex information and knowledge for tactical and strategic business decisions
3.1 Communicate information clearly and fluently, in high quality written and oral forms appropriate for different audiences
4.1 Evaluate business models that adhere to the principles of responsible corporate governance and social responsibility
5.1 Demonstrate highly developed technical and adaptive skills relevant to high level executive management

Career options

Career options include management-level positions in industry or government.

Admission requirements

Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.

Applicants also require five years' relevant work experience at managerial or above level. Applicants without a degree require eight years' full-time relevant work experience and an ability to be able to successfully undertake postgraduate business studies as determined by the MBA director. Applicants may be required to attend an interview as part of the admission process.

The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64; or CAE: 176-184.

Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

Course duration and attendance

The course can be completed in one session on a full-time basis.

21921 Integrative Strategy and Leadership is a residential subject taught off campus.

Students must attend the EMBA Induction Day at the start of the course.

Course structure

The course comprises 24 credit points of study made of three 8-credit-point subjects.
