This course provides a broad introduction to the fundamental aspects of information technology and is primarily designed for those who have studied little or no IT in their previous degree.
Students gain the necessary knowledge and skills to equip them for a career in IT. As well as gaining a broad foundation, students are able to choose elective subjects from a wide range of options.
Career options include database manager, information manager, information officer, programmer analyst or systems analyst.
Local applicants require a minimum qualification equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from a recognised Australian university, with a competitive Pass.
Applicants with a recognised Bachelor's degree in computing or information technology (or equivalent) may apply for recognised prior learning equivalent to the 24-credit-point Graduate Certificate in Information Technology (C11142).
The course duration is one year of full-time, or two years of part-time study.
The Graduate Diploma in Information Technology totals 48 credit points of study and consists of five core subjects and 18 credit points of electives selected from a defined list.
Students articulating from a non-current version of the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology should refer to the archived handbook (available online from UTS: Handbook 2008) for the corresponding Graduate Diploma in Information Technology course structure information.
