This course is an introduction to health services management and aims to expand students' knowledge and future career opportunities. The program develops students' knowledge and skills, which leads to an enhanced capacity to plan and manage health services.
This course is designed to prepare new, aspiring, middle and senior health managers for roles in health services management in a variety of settings. The course is designed to equip graduates with the ability to shape and direct the practice of health services management within the larger field of health care delivery.
Graduates of this course have a unique blend of health-focused management and business skills. Career options include positions in hospitals and other health care institutions or governing bodies.
Applicants require an Australian Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Applicants who do not have an undergraduate degree but who do have extensive relevant work experience in a health or human services field and can demonstrate the capacity to undertake tertiary study may also be considered eligible.
Applicants must have had at least one year's full-time work experience in a professional or skilled role in a medium to large organisation, preferably with a focus on health or human services.
The Graduate Certificate is offered on a one-year, part-time basis.
Students must complete a total of 24 credit points, comprising four compulsory subjects offered by the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Health.
