88933 Furniture Capstone Project

12cp

Requisite(s): 88931 Furniture Concepts AND 88932 Furniture Systems and Technologies

There are also course requisites for this subject. See access conditions.

This is the final subject in the Furniture Design major of the Master of Design course. Students utilise the knowledge and insights they have gained from their Masters studies to develop an original body of furniture design work. Each student develops an individual project that includes three elements: design research, design development and design evaluation. Assessment is based on the submission of projects that clearly demonstrate these three elements of the design process. This is a demanding subject that requires self-motivation and self-management of a high order. Students need to plan their time effectively as there is a substantial amount of work in translating a project notion into a well-researched and documented design proposal and then finally into a responsive detailed design incorporating prototype details for manufacturing and working models. This work needs to be systematic, thorough and well-directed to be useful.
