These requisites may not apply to students in certain courses.
There are also course requisites for this subject. See access conditions.
In first year, students learnt more abstract aspects of programming. This subject takes a more machine-oriented viewpoint: it discusses the implementation and design of data structures, the efficiency of data structures, the design and implementation of algorithms and the complexity of algorithms. Students learn to program in C, gain an understanding of aspects involved in the execution of programs in various languages (such as memory management and garbage collection) and develop skills in using tools for program development (such as source level debuggers, version control tools and make files/project files).
