This subject provides participants with the knowledge of business information technology, business information systems and the intra- and inter-organisational integration of business processes and systems. The subject highlights the scope and significance of IS-investments in today's business, and outlines concepts of information systems evaluation. It presents the concept of e-business in a broad organisational context and investigates the potential value of integrated information systems for strategic management. New and emerging e-business technologies are evaluated for their potential impact and applicability on management and marketing decision making and systems. WWW-applications and integrated enterprise systems are used to demonstrate the potential impact of computerised information systems on organisations and on managerial decision making. Students also learn about the business application frameworks required for advanced strategic management accounting instruments such as the Balanced Scorecard.
