This subject examines strategies for teaching students with special education needs within the regular classroom. It explores methods of assessment, programming, explicit teaching and classroom organisation to meet the needs of children who are experiencing difficulty, particularly in literacy and numeracy. Students continue to refine their teaching skills and in addition focus on how they can modify their approaches to ensure that students with special education needs are accommodated within the context of the regular classroom program.
The field component of this subject has a teaching focus in block form in a regular primary school.
