This program aims to expand students' knowledge, enhance and develop their managerial skills and broaden their learning, employment and future career opportunities.
This course is designed to prepare new, aspiring, middle and senior health managers to shape and direct the practice of health services management within the larger field of health care delivery, which is increasingly being managed as a business.
Graduates of this program have a unique blend of health-focused management and business skills. Career options include senior positions in hospitals and other health care institutions or governing bodies.
This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management, the Graduate Diploma in Health Services Management (C07048), and the Master of Health Services Management (C04140).
Applicants require a recognised Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year's work experience in a professional or skilled role in a medium to large organisation, preferably with a focus on health or human services.
Applicants may be accepted without an undergraduate degree if they have extensive relevant work experience (in a health or human services field) and evidence of an ability to undertake tertiary study.
The Graduate Certificate is offered on a one-year, part-time basis.
Students must complete a total of 24 credit points, comprising three compulsory subjects offered by the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Health and one compulsory subject offered by the Faculty of Business.
