Overview

The flexibility of this course ensures that students can undertake subjects most relevant to their area of practice. The curriculum is designed to support flexibility while expanding students' knowledge, enhancing and developing their managerial skills and broadening their learning, employment and future career opportunities.

This course is designed to prepare new, aspiring, middle and senior health managers to shape and direct the practice of health services management within the larger field of health care delivery, which is increasingly being managed as a business.

Articulation

This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management (C11107), the Graduate Diploma in Health Services Management (C07048), and the Master of Health Services Management.

Additional admission requirements

Applicants require a recognised Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year's work experience in a professional or skilled role in a medium to large organisation, preferably with a focus on health or human services.

Applicants may be accepted without an undergraduate degree if they have extensive relevant work experience (in a health or human services field) and evidence of ability to undertake tertiary study.

Course duration and attendance

The course is offered on a one-and-a-half-year full-time, or three-year part-time basis.

Course structure

Students must complete a total of 72 credit points, comprising nine compulsory subjects (six offered by the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Health and three offered by the Faculty of Business) and three elective subjects offered by the Faculty of Business or one elective subject offered by the Faculty of Business and a project offered by the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Health.
