Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Film and Video is part of an articulated program in Media Arts and Production which includes film, video, multimedia, sound, radio, performance and installation, and the interplay among these media forms.

Course aims

Students completing this course have core skills in all stages of video and 16 mm film production, with an emphasis on the development of visual style; some knowledge of screen culture and film and television industry issues; and an awareness of film and television industry protocols in production.

Career options include film and video direction and/or production.

Articulation

This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in Film and Video, the Graduate Diploma in Media Arts and Production (C06038), and the Master of Media Arts and Production (C04107).

Additional recognition of prior learning

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate or the Graduate Diploma in Media Arts and Production and who are admitted to a more advanced-level course in the program are eligible for recognition of prior learning for completed subjects in the more advanced course.

Course duration and attendance

The Graduate Certificate in Film and Video is offered on a one-year, part-time basis.

Course structure

The Graduate Certificate in Film and Video totals 24 credit points of study, consisting of three 8-credit-point subjects. The subject 57094 Film and Video 1 must be undertaken in the first semester of study.

Students undertake between 8 and 16 credit points per semester.
