Overview

The Master of Management in Event Management provides students with a means of developing high-level management skills and knowledge specific to the field of event management, as well as the opportunity to develop advanced research skills through the completion of two research subjects and a substantial industry-based research project.

The Event Management program offers a combination of core subjects dealing with the areas of event creation, event management, venue management, event marketing, law, accounting and research, together with subjects that provide a theoretical understanding of the environment in which event managers operate. Participants in this program also have the opportunity to explore areas of particular interest through elective subjects.

Course aims

The aim of the Event Management program is to develop knowledge, understanding and professional management skills relevant to the organisation, planning, marketing and operation of events both in an Australian and international context.

Articulation

This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in Event Management (C11038), the Graduate Diploma in Event Management (C06017), and the Master of Management in Event Management.

Additional admission requirements

Applicants require one of the following:

  • a degree from a UTS-recognised university or other tertiary education institution
  • a relevant Graduate Diploma from UTS or a UTS-recognised tertiary education institution, or
  • a relevant Graduate Certificate from UTS or a UTS-recognised tertiary education institution, with at least a Credit average.

Additional recognition of prior learning

Students may be granted a maximum of eight subject exemptions, of which four core subjects may be approved from prior undergraduate study.

Course duration and attendance

The Master of Management in Event Management is a three-year part-time, or two-year full-time course.

The Event Management program is offered at Kuring-gai campus. Some subjects may be offered in intensive mode.

Course structure

The Master of Management in Event Management comprises 72 credit points, made up of seven core subjects (42 credit points), an elective subject (6 credit points), and either a coursework or resarch strand (24 credit points each).

Electives must be taken from a list of prescribed subjects offered within the Master of Management in Event Management course.
