The Graduate Diploma in Commercial Software Engineering Management is designed for local and international IT graduates who are seeking advanced professional study with a focus on software engineering and software engineering management.
This course combines advanced technical subjects with project management and tactical management subjects for software engineering professionals to enhance their career prospects.
This course aims to provide graduates with advanced professional study in software engineering, project management, quality assurance, requirements engineering and software architecture. Upon completion of this course students possess enhanced work-ready expertise in software engineering and software engineering management, practical problem-solving skills and advanced communication skills and technical literacy.
Graduates are recognised as software engineers ready to take the next step in their careers towards senior software engineering or technical project management positions.
The Graduate Diploma in Commercial Software Engineering Management is part of an articulated program of study comprising the Master of Commercial Software Engineering Management (C04221) and the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Project Management (C11192).
Local applicants require a minimum qualification equivalent to a Bachelor's degree with a major in computing/information technology (or related discipline), or a Bachelor's degree plus a Graduate Diploma in computing/information technology (or related discipline), from a recognised Australian university.
Applicants with insufficient formal qualifications may be admitted as 'qualifying' students with progression to registration as a Master's student dependant on the results achieved in the Master's Qualifying Program. Applicants with insufficient formal qualifications should also submit evidence to show that the level of their computing knowledge is equivalent to that described above.
International applicants require knowledge and grades equivalent to the knowledge and standard required for admission as a local applicant. In addition, applicants should attach detailed transcripts of their course work annotated with their grades to demonstrate that they satisfy these admission requirements.
Exemption from electives in this course is not normally given on the basis of previous study.
This course can be completed in one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study.
Students must complete 48 credit points of study consisting of four core subjects (including a major research project) and three electives.
