Overview

The Master of Business in Accounting and Finance provides advanced-level study in a range of contemporary accounting and finance issues.

The combination of core subjects and electives equally chosen from both accounting and finance subjects is designed to offer a balanced coverage of both disciplines. Within the electives structure, students have scope for some specialisation in both the accounting and finance areas.

Career options include management-level positions in industry or government.

Articulation

This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in Accounting and Finance (C11015), the Graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance (C07012), and the Master of Business in Accounting and Finance.

Additional admission requirements

Applicants require one of the following:

  • a cognate degree from a UTS-recognised university or other tertiary education institution
  • a degree from a UTS-recognised university or other tertiary education institution and a minimum of two years' relevant work experience
  • a relevant Graduate Diploma from UTS or a UTS-recognised tertiary education institution, or
  • a relevant Graduate Certificate from UTS or a UTS-recognised tertiary education institution, with at least a Credit average.

Additional recognition of prior learning

Students may be granted a maximum of eight subjects exemptions based on recognition of prior learning, of which four core subjects may be approved from prior undergraduate study.

Course duration and attendance

The Master of Business in Accounting and Finance may be completed in three years of part-time study, or one-and-a-half years of full-time study.

Course structure

The Master of Business in Accounting and Finance totals 72 credit points of study, made up of eight compulsory subjects and four electives. Two electives must be selected from the prescribed list of Accounting subjects and two from the prescribed list of Finance subjects.
