Overview
The UTS Graduate Certificate in Executive Business Practice provides foundation skills used in the management and strategic change of a business unit, start-up or enterprise. The course is designed for experienced professionals and features:
- foundation skills in finance, accounting, business analytics, and marketing
- study choices in corporate transformation, entrepreneurship and Indigenous leadership
- hands-on and applied upskilling using the latest tools and methodologies
- applied leadership development
- course delivery by leading UTS academics and highly experienced professionals
- blended learning via fully online and block-mode face-to-face classes
- flexible cohort model for broad networking opportunities, peer learning and collaboration
- completion via an accelerated 6-month study plan or flexibly over up to 24 months
The Graduate Certificate in Executive Business Practice emphasises applied and work-integrated learning that allows students to apply what they learn directly to their specific work context. The flexible modular structure of the program allows students to study the program in stages, leveraging online and immersive, interaction-rich in-class learning.
Course aims
General management and entrepreneurial skills are developed to provide a knowledge base in finance, accounting, business analytics, and marketing. Students can choose from a range of options to also develop their leadership, strategy, decision-making, innovation and communication skills in the areas of corporate transformation, entrepreneurship and Indigenous leadership.
Career options
Career options include management-level positions in industry, start-ups or government.

Admission requirements
Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
Professional Experience Requirement: At least six years full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional work experience.
The relevant work experience must be demonstrated through a C.V. and a Statement of Service, confirming the dates of employment, and the position held within the organisation.
Interview Requirement: Attend an interview with the director of the EMBA.
Applicants without an academic qualification may be considered for the Graduate Certificate with eight years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, senior management work experience and a general capacity to undertake tertiary education.
The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 7.0 overall with a writing score of 6.5; or TOEFL: paper based: 584-609 overall, internet based: 94-101 overall with a writing score of 24; or AE6: Pass; or PTE: 65-72 overall with a writing score 58; or C1A/C2P: 185-190 with a writing score 176.
Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.
Recognition of prior learning
Students in the Graduate Certificate in Executive Business Practice are not usually granted exemption for prior studies.
Course duration and attendance
The course is normally completed on a half-year full-time or one-year part-time basis.
Course structure
Students must complete a total of 24 credit points, comprising of Adaptive Leadership Lab (6 credit points), one study pathway in corporate transformation or entrepreneurship (12 credit points) and core or elective options (6 credit points).
