Description
The supply chain is the backbone of any modern business as it facilitates the delivery of products or services from suppliers through to customers. For delivery to be smooth, efficient, and consistent, supply chain metrics must be critically monitored, measured and evaluated. In this subject, learners study cost and non-cost perspectives of supply chain performance measures and associated frameworks. They learn business operations methods and metrics that can be leveraged in the process of monitoring, measuring and evaluating supply chain performance and critically analyse these methods and metrics. Gaining confidence with supply chain monitoring, measurement and evaluation prepares students to optimise supply chain performance.

Competition is moving from organisations to supply chains. Effective and efficient business operations within and across supply chains should be measured, monitored, and assessed. This subject provides you with the knowledge to ass a variety of measures appropriate to assess and measure supply chain performance. The subject teaches you to apply various frameworks and models to assist in understanding the complex and nested approach to establishing appropriate supply chain metrics. Building skills in the critical analysis of supply chain performance will allow learners to apply the theoretical underpinning of quality management to conduct supply chain management performance and identify areas of improvement.

This subject is delivered online using a range of resources, self-directed study and live interactive sessions with the academic. Learners engage in the essential content through a variety of formats (lecture slides, notes, webinars, videos, articles, real case studies) online and learner-led dialogue through online discussions and posts, and interactions via Canvas. The teaching and learning strategies have been designed to enable learners to make progress in their achievement and maximise their accomplishment of the learning outcomes. Various teaching and learning strategies adopted are as follows:
- Learners will be expected to read all the assigned readings and media articles, research and identify innovative models and effective techniques applicable to supply chain performance management.
- By conducting self-paced study, learners contribute to the discussions on the influence of strategic and sustainable sourcing strategies on firm performance. This will enhance learners’ ability to progress successfully throughout the subject and complete all assessment items effectively.
- The online sessions will provide opportunities for group activities and discussion, self-assessment, peer review and formative feedback from the subject facilitator. Online collaborative sessions with the facilitator will be conducted at a set time.
- Formative and summative feedback will be provided to all learners and will take several forms, including quizzes during the independent learning activities and online collaborative sessions to support and enhance learner performance outcomes via assessments.
