94677 Technology Lab 3: Exchange and Influence

8cp
Requisite(s): 94676 Technology Lab 2: Connect and Network

Description

This subject investigates how technology can be used to exchange ideas or things and influence people, on a global scale. Whether engaging with the open source movement, crowdsourcing or crowdfunding, SoLoMo (Social Local Mobile Sharing) economy or the trust economy, collaborative consumption or global communication, students actively engage with and critically examine the growth of technological initiatives organised around democratic and participatory principles. Technological ideas that open up radical new ways of thinking about and organising global systems are explored. By this third lab, students have developed greater agency and authority in selecting and connecting tools and technologies, and presenting and evaluating arguments for alternative system solutions against a range of negotiated criteria.
