Description

This subject has two key purposes. Firstly, this subject promotes a workplace learning mindset. This includes practising skills of observation, interaction and inquiry. Secondly, this subject connects students with their peers and supports students during their work experience in order to foster a learning community.

Subject learning objectives (SLOs)

Upon successful completion of this subject students should be able to:

1. Communicate what has been learnt in the workplace and how it was learnt
2. Participate in the creation of workplace learning communities

Course intended learning outcomes (CILOs)

This subject also contributes specifically to the development of the following faculty Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs) and Engineers Australia (EA) Stage 1 competencies:

  • Self-management - Graduates must have capabilities for self-organisation, self-review, personal development and lifelong learning (D.0)
  • Communication and coordination - engineering practice involves the coordination of a range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary activities to arrive at problem and design solutions (E.0)
  • Professional practice within global context - graduates must possess skills, knowledge and behaviours to operate effectively in culturally diverse workplaces and a changing global environment (F.0)
