Students will have been introduced to the care of well childbearing women and their babies in Midwifery Practice: Supporting Women (92274). This subject allows students to combine the understandings and skills gained earlier to expand their repertoire of care practices for women and their babies. In particular, students develop their skills and knowledge needed to work in acute settings and are introduced to the care of babies experiencing transitory difficulties in adapting to extrauterine life. Each student will make relationships with a specified number of pregnant women and will follow these women through their childbearing experiences.
