Handbook description

This subject enhances the students' understanding and awareness of the issues related to health of Indigenous people, in particular, Australian Aboriginal people. Students are given an opportunity to explore their personal and professional conceptualisation of health. Students also examine the ways that colonialism has impacted, and continues to impact, on the health of Aboriginal peoples through cultural, political and socioeconomic circumstances. Primary health care initiatives that have been implemented to address the health of Indigenous women and babies in Australia and other countries is also examined.
