This subject contributes to overall course aims by continuing the development of students' knowledge and skills for the provision of adult nursing care. The subject focuses on adults experiencing alterations in renal and/or reproductive function and provides students with the opportunity to continue to develop generic nursing competency. The theoretical basis includes relevant data collection techniques, patient assessment and the development of relevant psychomotor skills based on current best nursing practice. Clinical judgment skills are developed to enable safe practice in clinical settings. The development of the relationship between the nurse and the patient includes transitions through health and illness, respect for cultural identity, ethical considerations and resource availability.
