The Honours thesis requires students to produce a 20,000-word thesis based on an original problem of a theoretical or applied nature. The thesis is expected to demonstrate students' competency to conceptualise, conduct and present research in a scholarly and independent manner.

On successful completion of this subject students should be able to:
- Produce a 20,000 word research thesis based on an original problem of a theoretical or applied nature. The thesis is not expected to advance knowledge but it should demonstrate evidence of the student's competency to conceptualise, conduct and present research in a scholarly and independent manner.

This subject is the culmination of the Honours program. The award and level of Honours is determined by the quality of the Honours thesis.
