Students are required to undertake industry internships which assist in developing skills, knowledge and contacts identified as essential to their career goals. Through their internship, students are exposed to the managerial functions and activities of their chosen industry. A written reflection on each period of internship is also required. Students are required to undertake a total of 240 hours of industry internship.
Subject objectives/outcomes
On successful completion of this subject students should be able to:
- apply skills, principles and theories learnt at university to the work placement experience
- display a greater awareness of their own professional abilities
- apply knowledge and skills in a vocational context
- show evidence of reflective practice on the work experience thus demonstrating learning.
Contribution to graduate profile
This subject follows Professional Internship 1 and is the industry placement component of the course. The subject allows students to put into practice the knowledge and competencies they have learnt at university. It also develops skills in building and maintaining relationships, and communicating within the workplace. The subject also assists the student in making industry sector choices for their future career.
