This subject is a program of reading in a specified area of economics under the direction of a supervising lecturer. Specific areas of study vary from semester to semester depending on availability of supervisory staff.

Subject objectives/outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students should:

  1. Extend their knowledge in a particular branch of economics.
  2. Be able to demonstrate a capacity to work independently and to critically evaluate a body of literature.
  3. Be able to demonstrate a capacity to communicate in written form.

This subject develops advanced understanding in a specialised area of interest such as labour economics, international economics, the history of economic thought, econometrics or the economics of immigration.
