Central themes are the causes and consequences of social change and continuity in the context of Japan's presence in the modern world. This subject requires no prior knowledge of Japan or of Japanese language. It is a subject that requires good skills in reading, writing and discussion of social issues.
Assessment: Assessment tasks include written tasks, such as essays, and oral presentations to the class.
