This subject consolidates and improves aural comprehension and oral performance, as well as reading and writing in more demanding and complex communicative situations in German. Students gain an understanding of more complex written language such as magazine and newspaper articles, a novel and academic texts. Students learn to produce different text types themselves (e.g. reports, essays), to understand and analyse aspects of German-speaking culture through listening to radio interviews and reports, and to participate in complex discussions. Students also develop an awareness of the various social and cultural contexts in which the language is used.
Assessment: This subject has a combination of continuous assessment and final examinations for speaking, listening, reading and writing. Further details are available in the subject outline distributed in class during the first week of teaching.
