92964 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Disorders

6cp; on campus, intensive
Postgraduate

This subject has been developed to extend the learning, skills and capacity of people working with children and adolescents who display aggressive, risk-taking, abusive and/or disaffected behaviours. These behaviours indicate serious mental health problems and disorders that pose problems in management and care. Students are able to increase their levels of competence and confidence as they focus on further developing their scope of practice. The teaching and learning activities highlight specific situations which may confront people working with children, adolescents and their families. These specific situations require heightened levels of care, across a range of clinical settings, in both in-patient units and specialised community-based services, and from varying theoretical and disciplinary perspectives.
