92868 Advanced Assessment in Nursing Practice
6cp; intensive; lecture/practical demonstration/clinical contractClinical practice subject
Postgraduate
This subject aims to provide the graduate nurse with advanced skills in assessment. Students are given the opportunity to explore the skills of assessment and to apply them to the assessment of an adult, adolescent, child or newborn. This enables the identification of issues for nursing intervention and nursing responses in the context of the client's overall physio-psychosocial needs. Such skills support the graduate nurse functioning as an autonomous clinician. Students select from a variety of modules, enabling them to study assessment related to their specialty areas of practice. Emphasis is placed on the application of skills and knowledge to the student's practice area.
