This subject covers the following topics: structure and organisation of the eukaryotic genome; control of genome expression by regulation of RNA synthesis, processing and translation; fundamental genomics and bioinformatics; application of molecular techniques, such as hybridisation, sequencing, polymerase chain reactions and western blotting; preparation of DNA libraries; clinical applications of molecular biology in inherited disease detection and infectious disease diagnosis.
