6cp
Requisite(s): 91151 Plants, People and the Environment OR 91101 Cells, Genetics and Evolution OR 91123 Biocomplexity

This subject introduces students to landscape studies by considering the impact of humans on the landscape, the history of people/plant/landscape interactions including the history of gardens, and the process of landscape design in relation to current practice in Australia. A site visit draws together historical influences on landscape design, the selection of plant materials and other components, and the development of a recently constructed landscape. The subject also introduces students to a wide variety of plant materials used to enhance urban surroundings, including annual, perennial, herbaceous, woody, exotic and locally native (indigenous) plant species. Also studied are different techniques of plant propagation for a range of plant material.
