The biology and management of key fisheries species are examined in this subject in the light of stressors such as overfishing, pollution and climate change. The subject reviews the taxonomy, anatomy and ecology of fishery species through a series of lectures, industry workshops, lab and field practicals. Fishery managers, government officials and commercial fishers present key issues in sustainability of species and aquatic ecosystems, and demography of populations is investigated using practical and modelling techniques.
