This subject examines the concept of insurance, the role of insurance generally in business and particularly in the sale of businesses and in business disputes. The public regulatory regime governing the insurance industry is surveyed and the private law principles governing the relationship between insurer and insured, including the types and products available and the insurance contract, are considered in depth. The current market in crisis regarding insolvency is also discussed.
