68606 Solid-state Science and Nanodevices

The subject builds on introductory material on quantum physics and deals with the topics of solid state electronics and nanoscale devices. The aim of the subject is to give an introduction to the electronic structure and electrical and optical processes in solids with a view to providing students with the tools and concepts needed to appreciate recent developments in the fields of nanotechnology and semiconductor physics. Particular emphasis is given towards topics relevant to ongoing research in nanoscience and nanotechnology at UTS.
