24cp; 20hpwThe aim of this subject is to develop skills for undertaking scientific research in the area of nanotechnology and to provide general knowledge in the technology transfer process. Seventy-five per cent of the subject is undertaken as a research project that continues from the first semester. In the second semester, students are required to implement the aims of the research plan and to evaluate the outcomes. The findings of this research are presented in a thesis, which comprises the main assessment component. The remaining 25 per cent is a coursework component. In this component, the factors that control the transfer of technology from the laboratory to the industrial world are considered, using case examples drawn from the fields of nanotechnology and nanomaterials.
