60813 Industrial Training

The industrial training component (completed concurrently with 60811 Scientific Practice and 60812 Scientific Practice Review) provides the opportunity for students to receive a firm grounding in the fundamentals of scientific workplace practice including the nature and culture of the workplace, the employment process, ethics and social responsibilities, communication and documentation, the application of the scientific method, occupational health and safety, industrial relations, innovation/technology and business relationships, and personal and professional development. Blogs and wikis provide an avenue for peer support, peer assessment, sharing of knowledge and experiences, and reflection during the entire industrial experience. Employer's reports (submitted midway and at the conclusion of the industrial experience) verify student attainment of educational aims and validate time commitment.
