Postgraduate
Subject coordinator: Dr R Sri Ravindrarajah

This subject develops advanced engineering knowledge and capabilities pertaining to the materials, specification, production, testing, properties and application of high-performance concrete. The topics covered in this subjects include: cements and cementitious materials additions; advances in admixture technology; sustainable concrete technology; failure process of concrete; precast concrete; assessment of in-situ strength of concrete; special concretes – high-performance concrete; high-strength concrete; self-compacting concrete; fibre-reinforced concrete; lightweight concrete; and polymer concrete and sprayed concrete. Individual projects form a part of the learning process.

Assessment: Assignments (20 per cent), seminar (5 per cent), major report (25 per cent), examination (50 per cent).
