The aim of this subject is to give an introduction to the principles of building measurement. It covers basic building measurement (finishes, brickwork, in situ concrete, roofing), introduction to the Australian Standard Method of Measurement, set-out and notation; the preparation and uses of a bill of quantities and types of documentation formats in common use, measurement rules and procedures. The following topics are also covered: volumes, areas, basic statistics (means, median, standard distribution, etc.) and the use of spreadsheets.
