The subject aims to provide the skills necessary to assess the technical condition of new and existing buildings. Methods appropriate to each of the various building components (including services) are covered. The subject also covers the assessment of the technical condition of existing buildings and the impact of that condition on possible future use of the building, detailed knowledge of the construction methods used in the past and the likely deterioration with time that would be expected of the building elements.
