This subject introduces the application of industrial economics to the building and construction industry, using the structure-conduct-performance approach. Topics covered include: the measurement of performance at industry and project level; forecasting techniques and the relationship between business and building cycles; analysis of the linkage between the building and property industries; the process of structural change and the emergence of the international building and construction industry; the impacts of information and communications technology on the industry and the role of innovation in the construction process; and strategic planning for business.
