Subject objectives/outcomes

On successful completion of this subject students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a satisfactory development of skill in performance of the four swimming strokes, starts and turns.

Contribution to graduate profile

This core subject in the BA Human Movement Studies/Graduate Diploma in Education program will apply theoretical knowledge of the biomechanical, physiological and behavioural aspects of performance in physical activity. Competence in various swimming and track and field activities will be required. It will serve to extend physical literacy by increasing the physical functioning of the student. All Performance Studies subjects are compulsory for students who wish to be accredited as PDHPE teachers by the NSW Department of Education.
