Handbook description
This subject provides an introduction to the theory and practice relevant to the management of personal financial risks. It provides an understanding of the fundamental techniques and analytical tools used in this process and identifies strategies suitable for securing both short and longer-term objectives in a dynamic social, economic and regulatory environment.
Subject objectives/outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Understand basic financial planning process and the environment within which this process operates in Australia
- Identify the principal financial planning tools and their application
- Understand the elements and processes in the development of effective financial planning strategies.

This subject introduces students to the concepts and processes utilised in the personal financial planning process.
Teaching and learning strategies
The subject will be taught in a combined lecture/tutorial format. Key concepts are introduced in the lectures. Tutorial questions and problems are designed to support students learning.
