Handbook description

This subject provides an opportunity to engage in a structured literature review to assist in selecting a thesis topic. It improves awareness of up-to-date research in marketing by exploring current research activities of recently published authors.

Subject objectives/outcomes

On successful completion of this subject students should be able to:

  1. To provide a structured format to assist students in the completion of the literature review for their Honours Thesis.
  2. In consultation with the Honours supervisor, to provide guidance in the choice of thesis topic.
  3. To provide the skills necessary to conduct a literature search.
  4. To complete a comprehensive review of the relevant literature for the thesis and provide justification for the research project.

Contribution to graduate profile

The literature review will form the basis for the first section of your thesis. It will demonstrate the your ability to critically review relevant literature, and justify the research project to be undertaken.

Assessment

Public Presentation (Individual)40%
A 20-minute public presentation of the literature review and justification for the research to be undertaken (plus 10-minute discussion).

This addresses objectives 2 and 3.

Literature Review (Individual)60%
A completed literature review and justification of the research in a format suitable to be directly incorporated into the thesis.

This addresses objectives 2 and 3.


Small group teaching assures the security of assessment processes.
