It provides an overview of the importance of developing and linking the electronic business strategy of an enterprise to its corporate and business objectives. It explores how electronic business can enhance the competitive advantage of the enterprise. Students analyse business processes and methodologies for business process re-engineering. The subject addresses major issues relating to the evaluation of IT systems investments, business performance evaluation, organisational restructuring and the management of cross-functional activities for improved efficiencies and develops awareness of the impact of electronic business on the management of change in different environments.

This subject is specifically designed to meet the urgent needs of the Australian industry in order to equip its management with the latest and best practices in the management of electronic business processes to achieve excellence, increase profitability and competitiveness. The skills and perspective acquired in this subject should be useful to students in their place of work. The subject covers a number of sophisticated tools used in the management of electronic business processes and focuses on the underlying principles and logic of the techniques used for managing electronic business processes, and their proper application and interpretation. It is expected that participants will develop a detailed understanding of the management tools used in managing their electronic business processes.
This subject will be delivered in the normal semester delivery mode. There are fourteen topics of to be covered over the intensive program. Each topic will involve an Introductory lecture followed by a Workshop/Group Syndicate employing experiential modules to practice students in the analysis of electronic business processes and the application of managing electronic business concepts as they affect the operation of an enterprise. Case studies will be used as the basis of Group Project work involving both report preparation and oral presentation.

The assessment will be secured through a combination of peer assessment of individual contributions, updating of assessment tasks across semesters and/or plagiarism detection software.
