This subject is designed to provide students who have no difficulty in understanding and writing French with further proficiency in reading, listening, speaking and writing in the language. The subject allows for an understanding of the sociocultural context in which the language is used. By the end of the semester, students are expected to demonstrate the linguistic skills and cultural awareness required to engage appropriately in a range of formal and informal discussions and written tasks in social, professional and educational contexts. Students are also required to read extensively in preparation for classroom presentations and discussions.
Assessment: This subject has a combination of continuous assessment and final examinations for speaking, listening, reading and writing. Further details are available in the subject outline distributed in class during the first week of teaching.
